Imports, Web, Widgets & Shortcuts

Locus can capture from system entry points and migrate data from other tools. Imports involve external data and permissions, so create a manual backup before the first large operation.

Apple Reminders Import

Locus imports incomplete items from one selected Apple Reminders list into the Inbox:

  • Title → task title
  • Due time → due date
  • Notes → task notes
  • Reminder creation time → task creation time, when available

This is a move import, not continuous two-way sync. After a successful import, Locus deletes the source reminder to prevent duplicates. If source deletion fails, the corresponding task import is rolled back; the result reports imported, skipped, or pending-save counts.

Steps:

  1. Enable Reminders Import in Locus Settings.
  2. Grant Full Access; write-only permission cannot read existing reminders.
  3. Select a reminder list that allows changes.
  4. Preview incomplete items and import selected items or all.
  5. Continue clarifying them in the Locus Inbox.

Use a dedicated reminder list and test with a few items first.

Things 3 Import

Locus accepts a Things .thingsdatabase package, an .aar that AirDrop or mail may produce, or an individual .sqlite / .db database.

Limitations:

  • Things repeat rules use a private format and are not imported. Re-create them manually.
  • Nested Things tags are flattened because Locus does not support child tags.
  • Deleted, orphaned, or unreadable records can be skipped or placed in a compatibility container. Read the import report.

Do not close Locus during import. Afterward, check project hierarchy, sections, dates, reminders, tags, and skipped items before removing anything from Things.

Web Inbox

Open app.locusgtd.com in a modern browser and sign in with your Apple ID to use your iCloud Inbox.

The web app currently supports:

  • Browsing the Inbox
  • Quickly capturing tasks
  • Editing task title and notes

It does not currently complete tasks or edit detailed fields such as dates, tags, and projects. Use a native app for full processing. Sign out on shared computers.

Home Screen Widget

The widget can display:

  • Today
  • Inbox
  • One Custom Filter / Perspective

Today can also include due projects and authorized Apple Calendar events. A location-dependent filter cannot prompt for permission from the widget, so grant access and configure location tags in Locus first.

Widgets refresh on a system-managed timeline, not as a live window. Content may lag briefly after an edit; opening Locus can help shared data and the widget timeline update.

Siri and Shortcuts

Locus registers an Add Task App Shortcut for sending a task to the Inbox. Depending on the Shortcut configuration, the action can accept a title, flag, due date, and notes.

Localized invocation phrases are provided by the system. If Siri does not recognize one:

  1. Search for Locus in the Shortcuts app.
  2. Run Add Task once manually.
  3. Create your own phrase or automation and pass an explicit title.

System Share Sheet

Choose Locus from the share sheet in another app to capture a webpage, text, or other supported content as a task. Edit the title and content before saving.

If Locus is missing, open the main app once, then enable it from Edit in the share sheet.
